Ron Conte, Pharm.D.- RCD

 

Present Responsibilities

Ron is currently a Regional Clinical Director for the Northwest Region, Comprehensive Pharmacy Services.  His responsibilities include developing, implementing, and providing leadership for all clinical initiatives for sites within the region.  Duties also include timely travels to sites in order to keep updated, at times troubleshoot, and provide direction in reaching clinical goals with established timelines.  He is also working on collating data for anticoagulation monitoring and management throughout CPS.  He has ownership of the Boxed Warnings document as well as one of two clinical pharmacist who is responsible for all initial clinical assessments for potential CPS clients throughout the United States.

 

Previous Experience

Ron received his doctorate in pharmacy from the University of California, San Francisco Medical Center.   He has completed post-graduate coursework in hematology at the University of California, Berkeley, and in nutrition at Harvard Medical School.  Throughout his career, he has been on the cutting edge of pharmacy involving major clinical programs.  His work with pharmacist-managed anticoagulated patients led to a national award presented at an annual meeting of the American Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists.  Ron’s work in ambulatory care was the pilot program which led to the California Legislature enacting Prescribing Pharmacist regulations.  Although much of his work has included both ambulatory and hospital-based programs, Ron has also been an Associate Clinical Professor at his alma mater, as well as a home infusion manager and a clinical consultant in private practice.
Ron is currently a member of the American Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists.   He has authored more than twenty published clinical reports and has co-authored a major pharmacology textbook for nurses, as well authored chapters for four pharmacy textbooks.  Ron has lectured throughout the United States on various clinical subjects to pharmacist, nurses, and physicians at various local and national association meetings.
